Introduction 
Shavuot is the Jewish holiday
celebrating the harvest((קציר season in Israel. Shavuot which means “weeks”, refers to the timing of the festival which is held
exactly 7 weeks after Passover.
You are asked to read the following texts
and find out what are the customs and traditions of this Holiday. After reading the information(מידע), please answer the questions.
Task 
You are Going to work in small
groups and your task is to research Shavuot’s
customs and traditions.
You and your partners will need
to work together to present to the class what you have investigated.
The
Process 
õ Divide work in groups of 2-3 learners.
õ Choose 2 questions you would like to

1. What is the
meaning of “Shavuot”?
2. What are the customs the holiday
has?
3. “Shavuot” has many names. What
are the names?
Explain each name.
4. What do we eat on Shavuot? Why?

holiday?
6. Read about Shavuot traditions
in Jewish
Communities in the Diaspora,
and describe
how
the holiday is celebrated.

Conclusion
Shavuot is an important holiday. The holiday celebrates the first
fruits, the harvest and the time of the giving of our Torah.
Shavuot, like all holidays has it’s customs
and traditions which you probably know by now.
